February mix

Here's just a few random pictures from our February. It was actually pretty cold here in NC, and snowed a couple of times, so I feel like there was a lot of indoor time.

Horrible, grainy phone picture, but proof that it snowed a decent amount here and got really icy! And of course, they cancelled classes at Duke :)

Thanks to the chilly weather, these two got plenty of bonding time. They are actually so cute together, it's been really fun to watch. Paige will climb up to chat with him during his diaper changes, which makes him laugh hysterically, sing to him, and "help" him roll... She also has those bossy sister moments, like "Mom, Deacon burped. Deacon, say excuse me." or "Deacon pulled my hair! Deacon, you kidding me?"

We've also found a new love for the Disney movies at the library. This girl is obsessed with princess movies. I don't know how many times a day the words "kingdom, prince, your majesty" etc, are used.
This sweet boy likes bath time, especially peeing in or on the bath.
We ventured out a little. One night we headed to Duke to watch the Lorax for Green Week and to eat free pizza.
We also visited Monkey Joes with Fuqua Families. Paige loves all jumping places.
And when in need of an activity, playing nursery songs on the piano makes everyone happy.

Cameron Crazies

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Duke basketball is incredible. We absolutely love our Blue Devils. I am that mom who puts her kids in Duke gear every game day. One day I even heard Paige chanting "Go Duke" while she was laying in bed during nap time.

And there is just nothing like being at a game in Cameron Indoor. Ben and I feel like we have to take full advantage of these games while we are here, and therefore Ben camped out for 2 games so I could go. Yes, he had already done the original campout to get a student pass, but to get me a ticket he had to camp out for these specific games. Then we had to hire a babysitter for 5 hours and I would go about 2 hours early to get in the other line. This also involved walking through the undergrad section and feeling like you got drunk just from breathing in the air. I seriously felt like I was in some frat-house movie....I felt old, conservative, and out of place. I have seriously never seen so many beer cans in my life. It's just one huge party going on with all of the crazies who have been waiting in line. Overall, absolutely insane, but completely worth it.

The end of February was the Duke vs Syracuse game (the one that ended with the Syracuse coach having a complete freak out and getting ejected, and Duke winning). ESPN has said this was the best game in all of college basketball this season, and we would agree. It was so close and intense the entire game! And an extra perk, we saw Scottie Pippin and Grant Hill.
He was here from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm

Then there was the other big rivalry game against UNC during spring break. Duke and UNC absolutely despise each other. I was even wearing a Duke shirt at Target on game day and a UNC fan told me he wasn't sure if we could be in the same aisle. Don't worry, Paige told him "Go Duke!" as he walked by :) People take it pretty seriously out here. For this game Ben had to go at 6 pm Friday night for the 9 pm Saturday game. He did get to come home for 4 hours in the night because it was only like 30 degrees so they got grace period. They did bring Coach K and the entire team over to speak to all the fans waiting, and he got to be on TV during the College Game Day recording. This game the crazies were on their A game with their cheers, we got to see Dickie V, Tony Romo, Roger Goodell (NFL commissioner), and some top incoming recruits. It was hot, sweaty, smelly, I really needed to nurse, and we were a little sore from standing so long, but it was incredible, and an awesome Duke victory.

The end of the game was a little bittersweet. It was our last game in Cameron. Duke has actually won every single home game since we've lived here the past 2 seasons. They have made us Cameron Crazies for life. Go Duke!
