I had the hardest time sleeping Christmas Eve. I was up almost every hour, excited to open gifts but also paranoid Paige would come down early and see everything. Ben and I were up at 6:00 chatting, shocked our kids weren't up. So we finally went upstairs to find my parents awake snuggling Deacon and all decided we should just wake up Paige. Yep, we're those parents.
Paige had asked for a "Sleeping Beauty bike" from Santa, so when she came down she exclaimed, "it's just what I asked for!". Then Deacon immediately grabbed the basketball and tried to put it in the basket. Santa success! Then we opened stockings and took turns opening presents. The kids did really well taking turns and stopping to enjoy each gift. Some highlights were the cash register and crazy talking truck from grandma & grandpa, doll house furniture they built for her, and Deacon's new shark helmet.
Once we were done opening everything we told the kids to put on coats so we could check if it snowed in the backyard (because Paige thought it always snows for Christmas...sorry kid, we live in Texas). She went running out and discovered their new playhouse! It was a hit, and I swear Deacon plays more in it than she does.
Next we took the bike and new helmet for spin. It was actually really cold so we didn't last too long, but they were excited to try out their new toys.
Then we stuffed ourselves with our traditional getta breakfast and had a relaxing day of playing with new toys, games, and watching Sleeping Beauty and Despicable Me. The kids were both such cute, fun ages for Christmas this year and it was nice to be at our own house so we could finally do some bigger gifts that don't have to fit in a suitcase. It was a perfectly magical Christmas.
