Maui (part 2): New Year's Eve

Midway through our vacation was New Year's Eve. We hit the beach and then headed back early to get ready for dinner in Lahaina.

After dinner we took our traditional banyan tree pictures (it's getting harder and harder with more children (...mine) that don't like to look at the camera)

I love how crazy all the kids look in this.
Then back to the condo for candy, games, fireworks, and sparkling cider. My parents almost never stay up for the midnight countdown, so it was a real victory we kept everyone up! Luckily my kids passed out on the car ride home and slept through all of the celebrating.
We did a kid countdown around 9, complete with sparklers and drinks.

Then the adults stayed up playing games, including a disgusting jellybean game where you don't know if you're getting a flavor like banana or vomit.

As Ben and I talked about 2013, I felt like it was the year of the baby and jobs. I got pregnant in January, we figured out Ben's internship, had a crazy summer apart while Ben worked like a mad man, got back to NC just in time to have Deacon, Ben flew out to interviews weeks after Deacon was born, we attempted to adjust to 2 kids, and finally decided on a job in December. It was a slightly crazy year, but a great one!
