Warning Family Maui Vacation (part 1)

My parents love to travel, and we love reaping the benefits. So right after Christmas my entire family flew to Maui! It was 10 days of cousin time, beach, sun, cards, pool, and relaxation. And we loved it!

I love the anticipation of heading to Hawaii....so much excitement, even in the shuttle bus to the airport.
We really lucked out on the flight over and Deacon got a seat. The kids actually did really well on the over 6 hour flight. But we were definitely ready to get off that airplane by the time we landed. Then we hit up Costco and Safeway and were all pretty much exhausted by the time we got to our condo.

The next morning, as we were getting out of our van to head into church, my brother-in-law notified us that MITT ROMNEY just walked right by him. And sure enough, we go in and sit 3 rows behind Mitt and his family. I pretty much stared at his beautiful head of hair the entire meeting. Oh how I love Mitt. Definite highlight of our trip. Side note- this is also the sacrament meeting where Paige referred to the young men passing the sacrament as "snack kids"....awesome.

Onto the actual sun and swim part of our trip. We had amazing weather and would usually hit the beach for around 4 hours, then shave ice, then a little pool time. Paige is an absolute water baby, and would constantly ask to go in the water. She loved bobbing in the waves and playing in the sand with the cousins.

One day my brother dug a giant hole for the kids, complete with a boogie-board bridge and a slide. It kept the kids entertained for hours.
We set up serious camp each day, with 2 tents, chairs, boogie boards, buckets, bags, etc. We tried to keep my fair-skin boys in the shade as much as possible :) And we discovered one of the beaches was great for celebrity hunting. We spotted Adam Sandler, Max Greenfield (he plays Schmidt on New Girl), and Tiki Barber went jogging past us. My sister and I had a great time trying to spot other celebs :)

Ben got in some boogie boarding and we both did a little snorkeling. Paige even went "snorkeling" with a boogie board that has a little window to see through, and reported she saw "orange fishies".

Paige loved her grandma and grandpa time.

After we were completely zapped from the beach, we would refuel with some shave ice at Ululani's (delicious!)

Then to the pool! (Gotta get that sand off somewhere ;) Paige did so much better staying upright in her life jacket and loved swimming around. Deacon had his very first pool experience, and after the initial shock of the water, he liked it!

There's nothing like a full day of sand, water, and shave ice!
